Hi everyone,
A bad couple of weeks training, I am afraid. A fair bit of travel and it was way too cold up in Yellowknife to run more than once but we progress nonetheless...
OK so this weekend. Yesterday my youngest son and I went to workout with our trainer for a good hour of circuits. That certainly was a lot of fun - although Andrew, my son, is famous for his negotiation skills at getting out of one extra set from time to time.
Today was my long run day and 17.5 km was the distance ran. I now know with certainty that I will be able complete the distance of the half marathon as this far in front of it, I can do all but 4 km of the distance required. My time would be very poor, however, and so we have to get to the point where I can do perhaps 25 km in between two hours forty-five to three hours and then I will know that I can make my hoped for time of less that 2:20 to complete the half.
The route today started from Newmarket and went down through the Conservation area and into Fairy Lake park, it was cold but certainly more comfortable that the run in Yellowknife this past week. A lot of great songs presented themselves during the course of the 2+ hours it took me to complete the run, and so today we have two songs - they came back to back and while of similar periods, they are by very different artists. They sounded great together, though:
Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey by Paul McCartney
Free Fore by Pink Floyd from the Obscured by Clouds LP
Andy is back with me tomorrow for some circuit training and I am now going to introduce some treadmill work into the mix as it appears to be the only way that I will be able to run through my Yellowknife work schedule this winter. Until tomorrow then, folks!

Looks like your stamina is increasing, Paul. Maybe we could do some "marathon" training together...;-)
